Definition :

  • Foot reflexology is an ancient manual practice.
  • The foot is the miniaturized representation of the human body.

Each “reflex zone” corresponds to a specific organ, gland or part of the body.

What is it for?

  • Relax and fight against stress responsible for many physical and psychological dysfunctions.
  • Activate blood and lymphatic circulation.
  • Mobilize “waste”, rebalance transit.
  • Stimulate the “emunctories”, release toxins.
  • Regulate the nervous system.
  • Prevent and relieve many treatment-related disorders.
  • Helps release the body's self-healing abilities.
  • For pregnant women over 3 months, it helps rebalance transit, alleviate nausea and heartburn, activate the lymphatic and circulatory system, reduce diabetes in pregnant women, alleviate lower back pain (sciatica) and bring serenity to the mother-to-be.

Code of Ethics:

  • A reflexologist does not make any medical diagnosis or therapeutic decisions. He must maintain the confidentiality of the recipient.

Reflexology is an unconventional, massage-like treatment. It is based on the premise that each organ, body part, or physiological function corresponds to a zone or point on the hands, feet, or ears. A specific touch applied to these areas helps locate and dissipate tension to restore balance to the body.

Reflexology unlocks the body's self-healing abilities and can relieve various ailments without medication. This manual technique is part of a so-called "energetic" and holistic approach to the body and is similar to shiatsu, acupuncture, and osteopathy.

Origin :

Reflexology is based in particular on the work of Eunice Ingham (1889 - 1974), an American nurse and physiotherapist. She is the author of the first modern treatise on reflexology.

Applications:

There are several types of reflexology related to various areas of the body: plantar reflexology (feet), palmar reflexology (hands), facial reflexology (or faciotherapy), ocular and cranial reflexology (Dien Chan), sympathicotherapy (stimulation of reflex zones in the nose, using stylets) and auriculotherapy (ears).

On the surface of both feet (plantar, dorsal, external and internal), and also of both hands, the entire body is represented by zones.

Massaging them helps prevent and treat chronic and acute disorders.

Past health problems (chronic disorders, congested organs) are detected by the presence of crystals which cause a specific sensation under the finger (cracking).

A very painful reflex point represents an organ in hyperfunction; it is massaged from the inside to the outside of the area, which has the effect of calming the organ.

The rest of the time, a massage of the reflex points is performed from the outside to the inside of the area, which has the effect of activating the organs.

A painful area or reflex point is not necessarily an indication that a target organ is "overfunctioning."

These painful reflex zones are mainly an indication of altered functioning of the projecting organ; this stimulation (by tonic or non-tonic punctual touch) can itself be modified in terms of the organism's perception depending on the times during which the reflex zone is stimulated.
